Groundwork Summer 2005 ~

YES..... the drain cover just outside the South touchline has gone,
and moved to a new position behind the West goaline.
This will allow the fractional widening of the pitch to comply with
FA Vase & Cup rules.

The wooden barrier at the East goaline has gone up in smoke.

Excavation work then commenced to complete the concrete standing, and the steel barrier, on all four sides of the ground....

This was followed by the filling of the trench with chippings to
form a base for the concrete standing areas....

from the Grandstand.....                                           along the East goaline.....

round the corner.....                                    and back up past the dugouts.....

Meanwhile Ben had fun persuading the soil back filled on top of the floodlight cabling to go back level...

whilst Chrissy cleaned the floodlight lenses...

and the West end barrier received a coat of paint.

Weekend 9th / 10th July ~

Once the West barrier was painted a new cladding could be fixed,

                                                     painted,

and then advertising boards fixed,

The sunshine was great, even if the paint dried a bit quick, but our new turf gets thirsty....

and of course the tractor shed door post needed fixing after our "roller man" had rolled it....

Meanwhile Rich. & Steve held cheerleader auditions

& at the bottom ( East ) end of the pitch the posts for the new barrier were fitted,

whilst the manager - supervised by both a ref. & the chairman, managed a paint brush.

Weekend 16th / 17th July ~

With the arrival of the cherry picker,

work on fixing the floodlights onto the towers could begin,

cables unravelled,

timber cladding fitted to the towers,

                                                                          and switchgear boxes installed.

Meanwhile the view from above showed
the completed West end barrier,

and ground shots showed the shuttering around the pathway
East of the dugouts ready for the concrete lorry in the next
                                      few days.....
